Department of Geomatics Engineering started education at Erciyes University in 1995 as a Geomatics program. A 5-year education program is implemented in the department, the first year of which is English preparation (Optional). The department started accepting students as of 2004. Within the department; There are 6 departments: Geodesy, Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, Cartography, Measurement Techniques and Public Measurements. Students who graduate from the department receive the title of "Geomatics Engineer".

The education and training plans implemented in the department are prepared by closely following the developments in science and technology. In this context, in addition to modern measuring instruments such as Total Station, Nivo, GPS / GNSS, the department also has Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Terrestrial Laser Scanners, Optical, Infrared and Multispectral Cameras, INS Devices, Motion Capture Suit and two Work Stations. In addition, all current software and programming languages related to the department are licensed. In addition to using modern measuring instruments and software, the department has a staff of academicians who develop these devices and software. There are 3 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors and 1 Research Assistant Doctor working in the department.
